Our experience is mediated by our ability to acquire, process and transfer information. The technology that we utilize reflects this drive to acquire information from the phenomena that we experience and organize it in a logical framework. Within this framework, refined data can be derived from it, stored, and later built upon in future iterations. The development of living organisms is governed by the information encoded into their DNA, while computer systems function according to instructions encoded in binary code. Despite their obvious differences, biological and digital systems both operate based on algorithmic mechanisms. I conceived of this series in order to develop a method of decoding information that relies upon physical action.Within this system, visual information is decoded and subsequently accessed through specific changes to the viewer’s physical position in respect to the work. Through a simple action such as kneeling/standing or walking to the left or right of the work the information embedded in the work becomes accessible to the viewer.
